Russia Increases Attacks on Ukrainian Power Infrastructure, Causing Blackouts and Record Electricity Imports
Since March, Russia has intensified its attacks on Ukrainian power infrastructure, severely impacting thermal and hydropower generation. These assaults have led to widespread blackouts and pushed electricity imports to record highs.
DTEK, Ukraine’s largest private energy-generating company, reported that two of its thermal power plants were hit, resulting in serious damage to equipment.
Regional officials confirmed that firefighters are working to extinguish fires at several sites following the strikes. There have been no immediate reports of casualties.
